Projects:
The UBRTU chapter completed their first Embrace-A-Stream project on the Bear River in October of 2009. Here, local contractor Denny Barnes places boulders to create habitat barbs on the Bear River. The project is located in the Bear River State Park in Evanston, Wyoming.
UBRTU chapter treasurer Rich Carver prepares Bear River Cutthroat Trout eggs during the 2008 egg planting project on the Bear River.
Bring Back The Bear:
Our mission here at UBRTU is the restoration of our home water — the Bear River, and the resurgence of the native Bonneville or "Bear River" Cutthroat.
Our chapter is a highly motivated group of individuals coming together for this common and worthwhile goal.
To accomplish this lofty vision, the chapter has put into motion, several projects which are briefly described on this page.
We believe that the success of our goals will not only benefit the river and the life it sustains, but the community as a whole.
We would also like to recognize some of our partners (listed on our "our friends" page) in this endeavor. We could not accomplish any of our goals without their incredible support.
Under the direction of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the Upper Bear River Trout Unlimited Chapter installed a fish screen at the Evanston Ice Ponds in May of 2010.
Cook-Sanders Associates, Inc. hydrologist Mike Fazio, center, leads a discussion with UBRTU members during a site visit to the Bear River. Cook-Sanders Associates, Inc. is instrumental in assisting the chapter with their Embrace-A-Stream project planned for the Bear River State Park in Evanston.
